Police charge man with one count of burglary

The man who had broken into a supermarket in Nasinu and tried to avoid his identity from the CCTV cameras by using an umbrella has been charged.

According to Police, the suspect who is in his 20s has been charged with one count of burglary and will be produced at the Nasinu Magistrates Court this afternoon.

Police said a report was received after 5am on Sunday from the supermarket manager regarding a burglary case they were viewing via their live CCTV feed.

It said the person was allegedly seen moving around inside the shop with an umbrella stealing items.

The suspect tried to escape but was arrested by Police.
