THE International Sailing Federation Youth Sailing World Championship under the Emerging Nations Program continued yesterday at the Suva Point foreshore.
Young sailors from six different countries took to the waters showcasing what the Pacific region has to offer.
The six-day tournament was organised to build and prepare the under-19 sailors for future events.
President for Fiji Yachting Association Shayne Brodie was impressed with the performance of the sailors.
He said the performance of the sailors had been gradually improving.
“Obviously we are into the last day of competition today (yesterday) and the performance of each sailor has pleased me and the other officials who are here to witness the event,” Brodie said.
“With these young sailors putting on a good show like this will not only help them but also help the Oceania region get good backing up from ISAF for future events.
“After this event we will kick start the Oceania Sailing Championship from May 1-4 in Suva. That also promises to be a huge event for us.”
