Year 13 exam starts

A TOTAL of 7448 students will be sitting for the Fiji Year 13 Certificate Examination in 161 centres around the country today.

Education Minister Dr Mahendra Reddy has urged students sitting for the examination in cyclone ravaged areas to do their best and be living proof that they are “stronger than Winston”.

He has also called on parents and other stakeholders to safeguard the interests of their children.

“It is important to pay the highest level of attention to our children’s needs during the external examination period, this is when they would need a lot of support from parents and guardians,” Dr Reddy said.

He said parents should ensure that their children were equipped with the stationery and resources for the examination.

“Sometimes there will be issues and problems which will affect us to do our best, but those that make those problems their motivation are the ones who succeed in life.”

Dr Reddy also conveyed his warmest and best wishes to the thousands of Year 13 students around the country.

“Do your very best as this is an opportunity to assess and reflect on what has been learnt through the year. This is your time to shine, so give it your best shot.”

The Year 13 examination will end on November 7.
