Year 10 student questioned, released after being in possession of marijuana

A YEAR 10 student of a prominent Suva school has been questioned and released after being found in possession of marijuana.

Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro confirmed the report was received last month.

Ms Naisoro said they had received the report from the student’s schoolteacher.

She said the student was a juvenile and was questioned in the presence of a parent.

Ms Naisoro said the result which was sent for testing had confirmed that the substance found on the juvenile was marijuana.

“Results have just come back in and confirmed (the substance) to be marijuana,” she said.

Ms Naisoro said the student is expected to be brought in again before the next course of action is determined.

“We don’t want to speculate on the charges at this point,” she said.
