THE Dayals- sponsored Yalalevu Football Club is the new champion of the Ba Football Association’s local league competition.
Coached by former national soccer rep Shalen Lal, the Dayals Yalalevu Football Club thrashed Young Brothers Football Club led by Malakai Rakula 6-0 in a one sided affair.
The Priceline Pharmacy-sponsored Ba Football Association local league competition commenced on June 16 and concluded with the finals held at the Fiji FA Academy grounds last week.
A total of 14 clubs participated in the competition which was played over 90 minutes from this year.
Yalalevu Club boasts some regular district reps such as striker Sanaila Waqanicakau, Balbir Singh who is the younger brother of Saula Waqa, Simione Nabenu and young Shaneel Narayan.
Upcoming Ritik Prakash who is a vital cog in the Vodafone Ba U19 team played a prominent role in Yalalevu Club’s dominance in the local league competition.
Ba Football Association’s secretary Iliyas Khan stated that the competition was intense without any hiccups with all the respective club delegates supportive and worked in tandem with the local league committee.
He said for the first time in the history of local soccer league competitions in the country anti-doping tests were introduced in the semi-finals and the grand final which will be further strengthened from the first local club soccer game next year.
Yalalevu Club received $1000 for their efforts while $500 was for the runner-up Young Brothers Football Club.
Yalalevu Club’s focus turns to the NCC zonal playoffs which will be held from December 6-8 at the Fiji FA Academy grounds in Ba. Yalalevu Club is the defending champion of the Vodafone National Club Championship having defeated fellow Ba club FSC 1-0 from a Malakai Tiwa classic last year.
