The first of the “Blue Lane” yachts allowed to enter Fiji at Port Denarau Marina in Nadi arrived earlier this week.

The new framework announced by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama last month was established to welcome back international tourists to Fiji under strict COVID-19 restrictions.

According to a statement from Port Denarau Marina, visiting sailors aboard the yachts and superyachts would undergo a COVID-19 test at the port of embarkation.

This would then be followed by a 14-day quarantine onboard the yacht.

“A health check will be required and a coronavirus test may be undertaken with costs to be met by yachts.

“There are many other requirements such as downloading a tracing app.

“At this time the only port of entry will be Port Denarau Marina.

“We have been working hard on yacht entry since March and are liaising closely with the agencies involved to develop policies and procedures for both yachts and superyachts.”

According to the marina, yachties interested in travelling to Fiji must apply first before entering the country’s borders.
