Fifteen children in the Western Division are living with cancer and most have completed their treatments.
This was made known to generous donors and members of the Lautoka Golf Club who gave financial contributions to Fijian children living with cancer during the inaugural Islands Electric-sponsored WOWS Kids Fiji Golf Tournament.
Tournament organiser and Lautoka businessman Raymond Singh said the event was successful and it was overwhelming to note the support of fellow golfers and organisations who had taken note of the work carried out by WOWS Kids Fiji.
“This is the first time we have done this and I would like to thank golfers who travelled from Suva, Denarau and Lautoka to be part of this event,” he said.
“May the good Lord bless these children suffering from this sickness and may they live long and have a normal life to live like us.”
The Foundation for Rural Integrated Enterprises & Development (FRIEND) Fiji director Sashi Kiran said they had all heard how difficult life could be for children living with cancer and she felt privileged to assist them and their families.
The event allowed people in Lautoka to gain an understanding of the work carried out by WOWS Kids Fiji who ensured the best treatment was made available to children living with cancer.
