WOWS Kids Fiji held their annual family day event in Lautoka yesterday.

WOWS Kids Fiji team leader Mere Williams said the family day was all about getting together with both the current and former children who were associated with the non-governmental organisation.

“This is all about getting them re-connected with each other and to appreciate the journey behind it,” she said.

Ms Williams said WOWS Kids Fiji organised this event on a quarterly basis throughout the year, however, because of the pandemic yesterday’s event was the first for the year.

“WOWS Kids Fiji tries to provide holistic care for the children and to also ease the fi nancial burden on families,” said Ms Williams.

Oncology nurse at the Lautoka Hospital, Laisa Raisamu, said looking after children was not easy because it was emotionally straining.

“It is full of emotions and I have learnt a lot from this journey with the kids,” she said.

Ms Williams said across the nation WOWS Kids Fiji was looking after 72 children diagnosed with cancer.
