WOMEN from the Central and Eastern Divisions are currently undergoing a capacity building workshop at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva.
Opening the workshop today, Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Mereseini Vuniwaqa has reminded them that the workshop was not only to recognize their contribution towards their families, community, or province to nation but to also bank on the opportunity of them to provide an additional avenue for their development.
She said the objective of the workshop was to allow the participants to understand their rights and responsibilities, to raise awareness in stimulating early actions to address social issues within the communities and to facilitate active learning opportunities and peer to peer exchanges to improve your socio–economic participation in the society.
“I must especially thank your families for being supportive of your aspirations as entrepreneurs and providing the backing that every person needs from their families in order to grow and progress as individuals,” she said.
The workshop commences the week coinciding with the 2018 Fiji National Women’s Expo where women from the Central and Eastern Divisions will participate.
Women travelled as far as Kadavu, Lomaiviti and Lau.
