FARMERS in an isolated village of Macuata have turned a new leaf of farming life after Government empowered them through a workshop to identify suitable markets.

The Ministry of Agriculture headed the workshop, aimed at empowering farmers to know their roles in the market.

Senior agriculture officer Timoci Vakaboro said farmers have been encouraged to pursue revenue generation farming projects and at the same time, instil groups with sustainable farming methods.

“Through this workshop, we worked with farmers to identify suitable markets for their crops and even linked farmers to local supermarkets to sell their crops.

“Farmers are producing crops but they often find difficulties in finding suitable markets in which to sell their produce.”
