The Vodafone Women’s Inter District Championship official launch and pool draws was revealed yesterday in Suva.

Nadroga has been drafted into Group A with Rewa, Suva and Nadi.

In Group B, defending champions Labasa is pooled with Tailevu/Naitasiri, Navua and Ba.

The Fiji Association of Sport & National Olympic Committee chief executive officer, Lorraine Mar, was the chief guest at the launch and she challenged the participants to step up as proud sportswomen and be the best at what they do.

“I want to encourage women to step up and that’s what it’s all about,” she said.

“It’s not because you’re a woman and trying to promote women in sports but because you can step up and be good at what you do,” said Mar.

Meanwhile, the venue of the tournament has shifted to Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka after many years and the reason was to develop women’s football in rural areas.

“We have shifted the venue to Lawaqa Park after many years because we want to see the development of women’s football grow in rural areas,” said Yusuf.

The tournament will begin at the end of the month at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.
