FIJIAN Seafarers are now counting down to September 27th, 2019 whereby they will gather at Sukuna Park in Suva to celebrate World Maritime Day.
At a press conference held at the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji this morning, it’s acting CEO Captain Philip Hill said highlight of the day will be the awards presented on the day.
Cpt Hill said with the theme being Empowering Women in the Maritime Community, this year’s awards will be presented to females all across the board in the maritime community, from progressive female seafarer to longest serving female in the fishing sector.
The following awards will be presented during the World Maritime Day.
1. First Female Fiji Sea Farer to Graduate from World Maritime University, Malmo, Sweden
2. First Female Fiji Seafarer to Graduate from Australia Maritime College, Australia
3. First Service Woman and First Female Commissioned Officer Enlisted into the Republic Of The Fiji Navy
4. First Internationally Certified Marine Manager in Fiji and the Pacific Islands.
5. First female to Attain Watch keeper Certificate of Competency
6. First Female to Attain Class 4 Engineer
7. Progressive Female Cadet in the Fiji Maritime Boarder Police
8. Progressive Female Deck Cadet
9. Progressive Female Deck Officer
10. Regionally Recognised Fiji Women in Maritime Organisation
11. Nationally Recognized Fiji Women Seafarers Organisation
12. Long Serving Female Regulatory Administrator
13. Long Serving Female Manning Agent
14. Most Improved Lady in Container Freight Station and Logistics
15. Maritime Cadet Recruiting Agency of the Year
16. Foreign Recruiting Agency of the Year
17. Longest Serving Female In the Fishing Industry
18. Recognised/ Most improved Woman in Port Management & Operational Efficiency
