Winners scoop $360k worth of prizes

THE beaming smiles on their faces said it all.

Probably the luckiest lot in Fiji right now, five individuals yesterday received their own brand new Isuzu D-Max vehicle after winning the Crest Chicken 5×5 competition.

The winners were picked out of the more than 250,000 entries that were received in the promotion nationwide.

In the presence of their families, the winners were handed keys to their new rides worth a total value of $360,000 at the Carpenters Motors showroom in Walu Bay, Suva.

And while it may be early Christmas gifts for most of them, it comes particularly as a retirement gift for Labasa winner Abdul Rasak.

Mr Rasak, who was lost for words, said he would be retiring next year after several years of working at the Fiji Sugar Corporation (FSC) in Labasa.

“I was really surprised when I came to know that I was one of the lucky winners,” he said.

The Namara, Labasa resident said the effort of posting more than 20 entries via post mail to enter the promotion was truly worth it.

Sharing same sentiments, 36-year-old Merelita Delasau said the win came as a blessing to her family as they approached the festive season.

“This comes at the right time for us. Whenever we want to visit our relatives in the village, the only problem we have is transport, so now it has been made easier,” the mother of two said.

“During the promotion, whenever I see empty packets of Crest Chicken lying around, I always cut it up and submitted them as entries.”

Mrs Delasau, who works as a customer service officer at the Fiji National University (FNU) Narere, acknowledged Goodman Fielder for the life-changing promotion.

The other three elated winners were Joseva Leka of Veikoba Settlement in Valelevu, Peni Naba of Lautoka and Diva Vesikula of Ucunivanua, Verata Tailevu.

According to Goodman Fielder general manager Chris Zaayman, the concept behind the promotion was to make it accessible through printing it on Crest Chicken wrappers.

“We like to make all our promotions fresh and exciting, just like our products, but this time we didn’t just want to reward one lucky customer,” Mr Zaayman said.

“We wanted to reward multiple customers. So with that in mind we created in partnership with Carpenters Motors.”

Mr Zaayman said the response of the promotion was overwhelming as they had received more than 250,000 entries compared with the 160,000 entries received from their major promotion last year.
