ANAISI Tawalo was waiting for her husband to return from buying dinner when news of his tragic passing was relayed to her.
The devastated woman said her world fell apart when she was told her husband had died in a car accident.
Tomasi Neidole, 38, was travelling in a car that veered off the road at Nalovo, Nadi yesterday.
“He said he was going to buy dinner, I didn’t know those would be his last words to me,” the Sigatoka school teacher and mother of three said.
“I am heartbroken. We are going to miss him as he was a loving husband.”
She said she rushed to Nadi Hospital where she was told of the incident.
“I wanted to see whether it was really him because it was and it is still hard to believe he is gone.”
Meanwhile, police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed the incident saying three men were involved in the accident.
She said the car was driven by a 32-year-old man who is alleged to have been driving under the influence of alcohol.
She said one of the passengers was in critical condition at Lautoka Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The road death toll currently stands at 12 compared with 14 for the same period last year.
