THE Frank Hilton Organisation has so far raised $100,000 from its annual wheelbarrow race event, with funds still pouring in.

This was revealed by the organisation’s chief executive, Sureni Perera, after yesterday’s race at Albert Park in Suva.

Ms Perera said one of the challenges the organisation faced was the inconsistency of funds, but the race had greatly supported them for the past four years.

“So the difficulty was the consistency in funding and having the race now for the past four years we have had consistent funding coming in,” she said.

“We have a higher number of teams this year, with a total of 18 teams we have engaged our partners also so they participated in the practice sessions.

“There was a lot of enthusiasm shown and we are extremely thankful to the management of each organisation.”

She said the funds would be used for the operation of the organisation.

Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Mereseini Vuniwaqa acknowledged the support from each organisation that participated.

“You are all winners today (yesterday) for supporting a course that is at the heart of this foundation and which supports children living with disability,” she said.

Permal Construction won the race this year.
