West initial damage assessment continues

Update: 3:08PM THE initial damage assessment exercise to ascertain the impact of recent floods and cyclones on the Western Division is continuing, says the National Disaster Management Office.
According to a situation report issued Monday this week, initial damage to crops and livestock has been pegged at $2,717,904.60.
However, this figure is without assessment data from Nadarivatu and Navosa.
In terms of structural damage, 28,050 people from 5841 households were affected with 687 homes suffering partial damage and 43 totally damaged at a cost of $41,521.
All evacuation centres are now closed, however, delivery of food rations are continuing.
