Weightlifting Fiji achieves milestone

WEIGHTLIFTING Fiji has reached another milestone achievement to host the 2019 International Weightlifting Federation Junior World Championship in Suva in June.

This will be the first world championship to be hosted in the pacific and weightlifting Fiji has stepped up to take the challenge and host more than 50 countries from June 1-8.

They have also announced that the competition manager will be the Sport Manager for the Weightlifting and Powerlifting tournaments at the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Brazil, Pedro Meloni.

The president of Weightlifting Fiji Atma Maharaj said it’s an achievement to host such significant event and grooming future Olympians.
