FIJI is well-known internationally for its pristine and surreal destinations, ideal for the dream wedding and memorable honeymoon.
And while most Fijian resorts are offering wedding and honeymoon packages which have gained prominence over time, a particular island destination in the Mamanuca is becoming a popular choice among the many.
Circled by white sandy beaches and 500 acres of vivid coral gardens, Tivua Island is a tiny jewel in the Mamanuca Group which offers a true taste of Fiji’s lush beauty.
The wedding entourage escapes into a fairytale world as soon as they set sail from Port Denarau on the magnificent tall ship Ra Marama or the luxurious sleek sailing catamaran Fiji One, to take them to the tiny island of Tivua
Administered by Captain Cook Cruises Fiji, the demand for Tivua Island as a wedding venue has seen a steady growth, apart from its typical day cruise adventures.
This has been further complemented with the jetty at Tivua, now allowing people to access Tivua at any time of the day or night.
According to Captain Cook Cruises’ public relations manager Brooke Tolar, this has given the cruise liner company more flexibility to host and organise weddings and events at any time on the island.
“The island itself is so picturesque and romantic, how could you not want to get married there,” she said.
The company also recently released several special wedding packages for weddings and honeymoons to meet and boost the growing demand.
“We currently have released the Tivua Island wedding package priced at FJ$242 per person based on a minimum of 30 guests and includes a 90-minute cruise to Tivua Island from Port Denarau on either tall ship Ra Marama, Spirit Of Pacific or sailing Catamaran Fiji One,” Ms Tolar said.
“We also have a dedicated wedding planner to ensure the day is perfect and finalise the wedding licence; use of a bure on Tivua Island for the bride to prepare; a marriage ceremony performed by a celebrant on the tropical beach setting of Tivua with a Fijian singer and guitarist accompaniment.”
The wedding planner, Ms Tolar said, would also organise the bride’s teardrop/trailing orchid bouquet; groom’s buttonhole flower; box of petals; bottle of sparkling wine; wedding cake; marriage certificate; three-hour beverage package including house beer/wine and soft drinks and a tropical island buffet meal with tea and coffee.
“For weddings of 50 guests or more on Tivua Island the bride receives half price on a three, four or seven-night cruise honeymoon aboard the Reef Endeavour and for weddings of 80 guests or more the bride’s honeymoon cruise is free,” she said.
“We are also offering a honeymoon bonus. Captain Cook Cruises Fiji is also offering a Reef Endeavour wedding package from FJ$1490 per couple plus your cruise fare for 2 people – Reef Endeavour cruise fares start from F$1840 per person for a three night Yasawa Cruise.”
Apart from having a romantic getaway, the serene beauty of Tivua offers an adventurous treat with the day cruise tours offering seasonal bird and turtle nesting viewing, snorkelling and diving trips around Tivua.
