Weather watch: Trough of low pressure to the northeast of Fiji

A TROUGH of low pressure with associated cloud and showers lies to the northeast of Fiji.

The  weather bulletin issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi this morning says it is expected to gradually drift southwards towards the group and affect the northern and eastern parts of the country from later today.

The forecast to midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group expect cloudy periods with some showers over Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti group.

Showers becoming frequent and heavy from later today.

Elsewhere, fine apart from brief showers especially in the afternoon or evening. Isolated thunderstorms with heavy falls expected.

For mariners expect moderate to fresh easterly winds with moderate to rough seas.

The outlook for Friday occasional showers over Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti group.
