Weather watch: TC Yasa moves East at 5 knots; heavy rain alert remains

Tropical Cyclone Yasa was located about 600km West-northwest of Nadi at 6am today.

TC Yasa is currently moving East-northeast at about 5 knots.

The national weather forecasting centre in Nadi has forecast occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms for Yasawa and Mamanuca Group, eastern half of Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands.

The weatherman says isolated heavy falls to be expected, and showers expected to increase to rain with squally thunderstorms from later tomorrow.

For the rest of Fiji, cloudy with some showers and afternoon or evening thunderstorms.

Showers expected to become frequent and heavy from later tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the heavy rain alert remains in force for the Yasawa and Mamanuca Group, eastern half of Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands.
