Update: 1:25PM MEMBERS of the public have been urged to cooperate with the authorities as the country prepares for the likelihood of more unfavourable weather.

This follows incidences in the North where residents have refused to
move when being evacuated by police officers as floodwaters threatened their
safety.

In a statement issued today, Chief Operations Officer, Acting ACP Maretino Qiolevu said there were
several factors as to why officers would make the decision to evacuate people
and they are first and foremost for the safety of the affected parties and
secondly the safety of the evacuating officers.

“The decision is made when the situation poses less of a threat to all
parties concerned,” Mr Qiolevu said.
