PARENTS and teachers are advised to monitor the whereabouts of their children at all times and to keep them away from flooded drains or waterways.

The National Disaster Management Office has advised families to keep emergency kits at all times, and that include clean drinking water and canned/dried food, a battery-powered radio, a torch with spare batteries, medicine, essential documents, clothes, and other essentials.

“As an act of preparedness, be certain about the location of your nearest evacuation centre,” the NDMO stated.

“If unsure about your nearest evacuation centre, contact your district officer, district advisory councillor, or village headman.”

Members of the public can contact the Fiji Roads Authority by phone on 5720 to enquire about affected roads and crossings.
