Weather watch: Occasional showers expected today

OCCASIONAL showers and possible thunderstorms are expected over the Lau and Lomaiviti group, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands today.

The weather bulletin issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi this morning says a weak eastward moving trough of low pressure lies over Fiji.

There will also be cloudy periods with afternoon or evening showers and possible thunderstorms over the interior and eastern parts of Viti Levu and Kadavu.

Fine apart from brief isolated showers elsewhere. Cool at night mainly over Viti Levu.

Associated cloud and showers expected to affect parts of the group till tonight.

Meanwhile, a cool and dry southerly wind flow is expected to spread over the country from the west today. Forecast to midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group it will be fine apart from brief showers over the eastern parts and the interior of larger islands.

Elsewhere, mainly fine. Cool at night.
