Weather watch: Low pressure slow moving, showers becoming frequent from today

A trough of low pressure remains slow moving over the northern parts of Fiji.

The weather bulletin issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi this morning says  an  associated cloud and showers affects the northern and eastern parts of the group.

The trough of low pressure is expected to drift south and affect the rest of the group from later today.

As for the forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji group expect occasional showers and few thunderstorms over Vanua Levu, Taveuni and the Northern Lau group.

“Cloudy with some showers and possible thunderstorms over the eastern parts and the interior of the other larger islands, Lomaiviti and Southern Lau group.

Elsewhere, cloudy periods with brief showers with showers becoming frequent from later today.

For mariners expect moderate east to southeast winds, fresh at times with moderate to rough seas.

The outlook for Wednesday, occasional showers, heavy at times and few thunderstorms over the eastern parts and interior of the larger islands, Lau and Lomaiviti group.

Cloudy with some showers and isolated thunderstorms elsewhere.
