Weather watch: Heavy rain warning remains in force for Fiji

A WEATHER bulletin issued by the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi says a heavy rain warning remains in force for Vanua Levu, Taveuni, the Eastern half of Viti Levu and the Lomaiviti group.

The weather office says heavy rain alert remains in force for the rest of Fiji.

A trough of low pressure with cloud and rain remains slow moving over the northern parts of Fiji.

It is expected to continue to drift southwards and affect the rest of the group.

The forecast to midnight today for the Fiji group expect occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms for Vanua levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Eastern half of Viti Levu and Lomaiviti group.

Elsewhere, occasional showers with isolated heavy falls and few thunderstorms.

Showers may possibly increase to rain and become frequent and heavy from today.

Localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas.

As for mariners expect moderate east to northeast winds and moderate seas.
