Weather watch: Heavy rain warning remains in force

A HEAVY rain warning remains in force for most parts of the country.

The weather bulletin issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi at 10:45am todays says a heavy rain warning remains in force for Yasawa and Mamanuca group, eastern half and interior of Viti Levu and Lomaiviti group, Northern Lau group, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands.

Meanwhile, a strong wind warning remains in force for the land areas of Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Southern and Northern Viti Levu.

The weatherman says a trough of low pressure with associated cloud and rain remains slow moving over the group.

It is expected to affect the country for the next few days.

A high pressure system also lies to the far Southwest of Fiji directs a strong East to Southeast wind flow over the group.

Localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas.
