Weather watch: Heavy rain warning remains in force

A HEAVY rain warning remains in force for Southern, Eastern and the interior of Viti Levu, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Lomaiviti and Southern Lau groups.

The weather bulletin issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi late this afternoon stated that the heavy rain warning was also now in force for the Yasawa and Mamanuca Group and the rest of Viti Levu.

A trough of low pressure with associated rain and thunderstorms remained slow moving over the group and is expected to affect the country till tomorrow.

The forecast to midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group – expect occasional rain, heavy at times with isolated thunderstorms over Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Lomaiviti and Southern Lau groups.

Localised heavy falls may lead to flashflooding of low lying areas, otherwise expect occasional rain and isolated thunderstorms.

The outlook for Thursday, there will be occasional showers and thunderstorms over most places.

Isolated heavy falls possible and showers are expected to gradually ease and clear from the West.
