Weather watch: Heavy rain warning cancelled

A HEAVY rain warning previously in force for Yasawa and Mamanuca Group, Northern, Eastern and interior of Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lomaiviti and Lau Group is cancelled.

However the weather bulletin issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi at 10:45am today says a trough of low pressure with associated rain and thunderstorms remains slow moving over the eastern parts of the group and is expected to depart the country to the east later today.

Forecast to midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group expect occasional rain and few thunderstorms over Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands and Lau group.

Isolated heavy falls possible and rain easing to showers later today.

Elsewhere there will be cloudy periods with isolated showers.

The outlook for Friday expect some showers over the eastern parts and interior of the larger islands.

Elsewhere, afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms possible.
