A HEAVY rain alert remains in force for the interior and Eastern half of Viti Levu, Lau and Lomaiviti Group, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands and Vanua Levu.
The Fiji Meteorological Service says a trough of low pressure with associated cloud and rain remained slow moving over the Eastern parts of the group.
It stated that for the interior and Eastern half of Viti Levu (from Rakiraki, Nausori, to Pacific Harbour), Lau and Lomaiviti group, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, periods of rain, heavy at times and squally thunderstorms are forecast.
For Vanua Levu, occasional rain and few thunderstorms with frequent rain should be expected from tonight.
The weatherr centre has also advised that localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low-lying areas.
