Weather watch: Flood warning as trough of low pressure lies slow moving over Fiji

A FLOOD warning remains in force for low lying areas and areas adjacent to and downstream of Naqali station and Vitogo village.

The weather bulletin issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi at 10:45am today says a flood alert remain in force for low lying areas and areas adjacent to Nausori town, low lying areas and areas adjacent to and downstream of Ciri Below Confluence.

A weak trough of low pressure with cloud and showers lies slow moving over Fiji.

It is expected to affect the group till tomorrow.

The forecast to midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group expect cloudy periods with some showers with isolated thunderstorms and heavy falls expected over Lau and Lomaiviti group and the eastern parts and interior of the other larger islands.

Elsewhere, cloudy periods with afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms with heavy falls.

Localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying areas.

For mariners expect moderate easterly winds and moderate seas.

Outlook for Wednesday expect cloudy periods with brief showers over the eastern parts and interior of the larger islands.

Afternoon or evening showers and isolated thunderstorms with heavy falls possible elsewhere.
