THE Fiji Meteorological Service is mourning the sudden loss of its director, Ravind Kumar.

Mr Kumar died at his home in Nadi on Sunday afternoon.

When contacted by this newspaper yesterday, his wife Reena Devi said it was difficult to believe that he was gone.

“I will miss everything about him — he was a wonderful husband and loving father to our two children,” she said.

“I have met so many people who have told me about how humble Ravind was and he was like that at home — a very humble and gentle man.

“And he was so dedicated to his work, even when he was at home, he was always in touch with the office and kept himself up-to-date with the latest weather developments.”

Mr Kumar began his career at the Fiji Meteorological Service in 1987 as a technical observer.

He worked his way up to become the director in 2015.

The funeral rites for Mr Kumar will be held at his Cooperative Rd, Waqadra residence in Nadi before departure at 1pm for the Wailoaloa Crematorium.
