We will receive them. That’s the assurance from The People’s Alliance party leader Sitiveni Rabuka when quizzed if he would work with the supposed 13 Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) members who have reportedly withdrawn their interest from SODELPA.

“When they leave SODELPA and make themselves available for People’s Alliance, we will receive them,” he said.

Mr Rabuka said when he resigned from SODELPA, he was reassured by these party members that if their term finishes they would rally behind him if they were to be considered.

“In fact when I said to them that I was leaving they said well we honour the wishes of our voters and respect those that voted for you and the accesses from your vote count, we benefited from and we were allocated seats because of the proportional representation feature of our electoral system.”

Mr Rabuka said some of these members had benefited from the number of his votes from the last general election.

“They said some of us made up the threshold requirements using the accesses from your votes.

“For that they said good luck and if we finish this term and if we will be considered by you we will come and join you because we share the same views and visions for Fiji and my leadership style of listening to people and listening to my colleagues they appreciate it.”

SODELPA leader Viliame Gavoka had earlier told this newspaper that they would not be troubled should these members leave as their replacements were all in place.
