“MY message to those involved in the drug trade is that we will get to you.”

These were the words of Fiji’s Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho after a raid on Kadavu resulted in his men uprooting more than 2000 plants believed to be marijuana.

Brig-Gen Qiliho said all efforts were being pushed towards the war against drugs.

Police conducted the raids at farms located at Lagalevu and Waisalima and two men believed to be the owners of the farms are now in custody.

“Government has provided us with the resources that has drastically increased mobility on land and out at sea,” he said.

“So if it means deploying our boats to Kadavu with resources and personnel on a weekly basis to reduce and curb the cultivation of marijuana, we will do so.”

Police have confirmed that the confiscated plants would be brought over for analysis as investigations continue.
