“WE were being bullied and disrespected in Nauru,” says Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Qian Bo.

Mr Qian mentioned this in a press conference today after he claimed how the Chinese delegation was treated during the 49th Pacific Islands Forum in Nauru that concluded earlier this week.

He said it was unfortunate that the meeting was held in a country like Nauru.

“It is very unfortunate that this meeting is held in a country like Nauru and after what happened, the President (Baron Waqa), during the press conference, claimed that the Chinese delegation is not respecting him or the Chair and he even asked for a formal apology from China,” Mr Qian said.

“He also claimed that he will bring the issue to the United Nations or some international conferences in the later stage.

“We believe this is a laughing stock.”

Mr Qian added in order to get respect, the relevant person should act with dignity and self-respect in order to get respect by other countries.
