THE Fiji Labour Party is vying to form the government for the third time.
This according to party leader Mahendra Chaudhry.
He made this statement during the party’s annual general meeting for the Nadi branch held in Votualevu recently.
“We can win again. We have formed government twice and we can do it all over again,” he said.
Mr Chaudhry said before the FijiFirst Government came into power, citizens had the freedom of speech and democracy was intact.
“Fiji was not like this, the way it is now. Political parties could openly hold their meetings, and there was no strict surveillance on them as carried out by the FijiFirst Government.
He said during the 2022 general elections, it was important that citizens vote responsibly in order to bring change to the country.
“We should be asking where is the taxpayers’ money is being utilised.
“The road conditions nor the cost of living is getting any better.”
Questions sent to the Minister for Economy and FijiFirst general secretary Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum remain unanswered when this edition went to press last night.
