ABOUT 400,000 litres of water is expected be carted to the Yasawa Group this weekend.
Acting Commissioner Western Joji Satakala said two barges would carry water to the northern and southern parts of the group over the next few days.
“We have the MV Vatulawa carrying 90,000 litres of water, while the MV Moana will carry 290,000 litres,” he said.
“The MV Moana will start from the lower parts of Yasawa in Narara and then move on to the Naviti district, while the MV Vatulawa will service Yasawa-i-Rara and Nacula.
“We had one barge that went earlier this week and returned for a refill before it had to return.”
He said after servicing the Yasawa group, the Malolo group and Vatulele would be next.
Mr Satakala reiterated the call by Minister for Agriculture, Rural and Maritime Development and National Disaster Management Inia Seruiratu that the water carting exercise would depend on the weather.
