Water situation: WAF monitors situation at Koronivia
13 May, 2019, 7:19 pm
THE Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) is working to normalise water supply to residents of Koronivia, Nausori who were without water for the whole of yesterday.
Last Thursday, WAF had announced and issued a public advisory regarding a planned water disruption notice for WAF crew members to carry out cut-over works at six locations within the Koronivia area.
The authority had noted to terminate supply between 9pm on Saturday and 7am Sunday morning.
Residents at the Koronivia Research Staiton did not receive water supply for the whole day and night, and this morning.
According to WAF, despite planned works being completed by 5am on Sunday, WAF crew members identified a defective sluice valve, located between Farm Road and FNU Lab Road and a burst main located after the LDS Church.
“WAF is currently working to rectify this,” it stated today.
Areas still affected include Toga Rd, Koronivia Road, Davuilevu, Nausori, Fiji National University, and the Koronivia Research Station.
Meanwhile, during the unplanned disruption extensions, the authority claimed it informed customers via text message blasts.
“WAF crew members will continue to monitor the situation in Koronivia and more updates will be made available once water supply is normalised.”
