Water situation: Parts of Nadi to experience supply disruption

Listen to this article:

RESIDENTS living in parts of Nadi are advised that they will be experiencing low water pressure to intermittent supply at times during the night from 9pm (November 21) until 4am on Saturday, November 23.

A statement from the Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) attributed the interruption in supply to planned operations on five supply off-takes to the affected areas connected from DN500 and DN300 bulk supply trunk mains to Nadi.

The operation will recover water pressures on the trunk mains and water levels at the Nagado Water Treatment Plant clear water reservoir during the off-peak hours for a period of three days.

The affected areas include Solovi, Meiganiyah, Taci, Togo Lavusa and Togo Masi.

The authority says the disruption period will allow them to refill the Nagado reservoir to its maximum levels.

The water level there had depleted in the last two to three days as a result of burst mains on supply off-takes feeding from the trunk mains and also outlet mains from Kashmir, Nasau and Holika Reservoirs.

Water supply to affected customers is expected to be normalised by 5am on Saturday.

Customers in those areas are advised to store and use water wisely for their immediate needs during this temporary disruption period.

Water carting trucks will be on standby to service the areas disrupted as and when the need arises.
