Water disruption advisory
11 July, 2018, 3:30 pm
PEOPLE living along elevated areas in Nausori to Suva will experience low water pressures to no water supply from today till midday Friday.
This was the word from the Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) advising that the disruption in supply is a result of a major leakage at the riser pipe of the water pump in the raw pumping station at Waila.
Water disruptions are understood to have been experienced from 9am today.
According to a statement from WAF, repair works are forecasted to take approximately 12 hours and commencing this morning.
“The pump will be back in operation soon after the repair,” the statement read.
“However, the supply will be affected due to low water levels in our clear water reservoirs as a result of reduction of water production during this repair work.”
WAF has also indicated that the supply is expected to be gradually restored from tonight (11/07) up to midday Friday (13/07).
“The Authority is kindly advising its customers residing in the areas above to use water wisely for their immediate needs during this temporary disruption period,” WAF stated.
“Water carts will be on standby to service the areas as and when the need arises.
“The Authority highly regrets any inconvenience caused to its customers.”
