Watch your attitude, police told

COMMISSIONER of Police Ben Groenewald has reminded police officers in the North to treat people under their watch with humanity.
During his visit to the Seaqaqa Police Station this week, Mr Groenewald told the officers that everyone had rights under the Constitution.
“You should watch your attitude towards the community. The way you treat complainants in criminal cases, accused or suspects should be appropriate,” he said.
“They are not your friends but you should treat them well because they have their rights under this constitution.
“We should treat them well at all times because this is how we are selling the police. The vulnerable ones under your care also have their rights.”
Commenting on the operations at the station, Mr Groenewald was pleased that Seaqaqa had maintained its standard of being the cleanest station in the country.
“Please keep up the good work and always work together for the benefit of the people we are serving and the organisation.
“I appreciate the positive and welcoming reception and I hope to dialogue more with all of you in the long run,” Mr Groenewald said.
