Waqaliti helps team

FORMER Fiji women’s football rep Lice Waqaliti is training the Fiji team goalkeepers for the 2017 Pacific Mini Games which starts in Vanuatu next week.

Waqaliti has high hopes from the goalkeepers.

“The girls are ready for the competition after going through tough training,” she said.

“I have trained goalkeepers in the past who have excelled in tournaments, so I am expecting the same in the Pacific Mini Games.”

Rewa goalkeeper Merevesi Fuga is the number one goalkeeper who is expected to start for Fiji.

Waqaliti said she had done her hard yards in the training.

“She is one of the senior players in the team and through her experience she has been doing well and improving in her football career,” she added.

“She has the capability to be to be the top choice goalkeeper and she will be assisted by Ateca Tuwai who won the golden gloves in the 2017 Oceania Football Confederation under-19 Championship in New Zealand in July.

“We expect a good competition and we know the competition level will be very high.”
