MINISTER for Health and Medical Services Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete says there is significant need for continuous improvement in the ministry’s professionals capacity to protect lives and reduce complaints.
Highlighting this in Parliament last night, Dr Waqainabete said there was also a need to stop the pilfering happening in health facilities, damaging and desecrating of health facilities.
Dr Waqainabete said these damage caused the ministry to utilise already committed resources for needed repairs.
During his response to the 2019/2020 National Budget, Dr Waqainabete said the next financial year’s budget allowed the ministry to strengthen human resource procedures, improve quality and deal appropriately with processes and staff who have faulted the people.
He said the Health Ministry did not condone unprofessionalism.
“The Health Ministry is committed to improving efficiencies and develop a compassionate, committed, professional, ethical workforce in both health professionals and the corporate professionals who support health services’ provision,” Dr Waqainabete said.
He added that the ministry needed the support of the nation.
“We need to respect our health facilities.
Two-thirds of our staff are women and we need to protect them.”
