“PLEASE bear with us.”

This is the plea made by Minister for Health and Medical Services Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete as they try to accommodate hundreds of people turning up at the Navua Hospital in Lobau for measles vaccination.

His plea came after he was made aware of several residents who claimed they had waited for hours to get vaccinated yesterday.

When a team from this newspaper arrived at the hospital at 10.30am, a shed was already erected outside the car park where about ten nurses were administering vaccine to hundreds of people, some of whom had been waiting since 6am.

Dr Waqainabete assured that everyone who turn up at Navua Hospital would be immunised.

“Remember the advisory has been up for two months,” he said.

Akosita Sega, 36, from Qilai settlement said her house was located near the Wailali settlement where the four confirmed and one suspected cases of measles were discovered.

“I have high chances of contracting the disease that’s why I am here,” Mrs Sega said.

A mother from Rovodrau said she was at the hospital at 7pm with her two children.

“We got our injections at around 10am, when we came here at 7am, there was no doctor here.

“The number of people started to increase so we managed to get our injections after three hours,” she said.
