OUTBREAKS are common in Fiji and are amplified by environmental factors related to climate change, land use and changing social conditions, says Minister for Health and Medical Services, Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete.

He made the statement while speaking at the closing of the Watersheds Intervention for Systems Health (WISH) Fiji Research Project Overview held at Holiday Inn, Suva, yesterday.

He said WISH Fiji partnership worked with national and local governments, rural communities and the commercial sector, to take a systems approach to health and well-being of our people.

“The project has received endorsement from key ministries, the Centre for Disease Control, the National Drinking Water Quality Committee, the WHO and UNICEF.”
