SYDNEY (RUGBY.COM.AU) – The Wallabies’ 2019 Rugby Championship schedule is all but complete with the Springboks confirming a Johannesburg encounter for the countries’ tournament opener.

The SARU released its tournament schedule on Tuesday , with a move back to more familiar surrounds for the Aussies after a clash in Port Elizabeth this year.

Australia will take on the Springboks on July 20, which will be their first game of the tournament, before a home Test against Argentina and New Zealand and the final Bledisloe in Auckland.

Rugby Australia has not confirmed its full 2019 home schedule yet, only unveiling the Perth Bledisloe double header, but their second Rugby Championship Test is likely to be a Brisbane clash with the Pumas.

New Zealand confirmed its calendar last month, including the second annual Bledisloe double header.

That the Wallabies will finish the tournament with the two Bledisloe encounters is pivotal – playing New Zealand deeper in the tournament is where their trans-Tasman victories have come in recent years.

Australia is yet to confirm a warm-up schedule leading into the 2019 Rugby World Cup but it has been reported that the Wallabies will spend some time in the USA before heading to Japan.
