Headed by Fiji National University Labasa campus leader Pardeep Lal, the project aims to prevent water pollution that eventually affects rivers, oceans and food supplies.

The students who are members of the Climate Change club launched the project at Nakama River.

Mr Lal said it was important to involve students because they could influence their peers and families about saving and protecting the environment.

Waiqele College deputy head girl Kashvi Kumar said they would continue to work with the communities to promote the importance of protecting the environment.
