THE Wainibuka netball team hopes to get more exposure at the Central Primary Schools netball competition this week. President Samuela Delaitubuna said this was the first time for them to take part in this competition.
“For the past three years we had tried to make it to the competition but because of financial constraints. We need to expose our girls not just at district level but to national level,” he said.
“We managed to secure some sponsors that enabled us to purchase two sets of new uniforms and T-shirts which is one of our great achievements.
“Some of the challenges that we went through is the support from stakeholders of all the schools. We were supposed to camp for two weeks but because of the lack of communication and poor networking we were unable to do so but we were able to put together to two groups to camp for one week.”
“However, whatever they had achieved they had tried their utmost best to perform well in their pool games.”
He added that there was more development especially in their defence and in their shooting area.
“The mid court players had improved in their skills.”
The Tailevu-based team is grateful to God for the strength and giving them an opportunity to take part in this kind of competition.
They fielded two teams in the under-14 and U13 and are camping at Draiba Primary School.
