WAF upgrade to boost water supply

MORE than 430 people living in Vatiyaka, Ba, will soon have access to continuous piped water thanks to extension works being conducted by the Water Authority of Fiji.

The WAF upgrades at Vatiyaka would also improve supply to a primary school with a total roll of 273 students. According to WAF, Vatiyaka had been receiving intermittent water supply for the past few years, especially during periods of extended dry weather.

WAF said the work involved the laying of 347 lengths of pipe, with proper bedding and backfill material.

It also included the installation of key equipment, including an air valve key and a 4-inch sluice valve.

The Vatiyaka project began on January 8, 2018, and was scheduled to be completed by the end of February this year at a cost of $160,125.

WAF said it remained committed to enhancing water distribution to all communities affected with intermittent water supply.
