The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) says it experienced water supply production issues at the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant (WTP) earlier this week, caused by the heavy rains experienced before and during TDO2F and Tropical Cyclone Mal.

WAF said two public advisories were issued to make customers aware of this issue and its impacts.

“A total of 15 water carting tankers were deployed to service the areas that were disrupted due to the blockages at the Savura intake that caused the reduction of production at the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant.”

WAF said in a statement some communities were inaccessible for the water tankers ecause of poor road conditions.

In anticipation of the adverse weather, Public Works Minister Filipe Tuisawau had appealed to the public to store water, along with the public advisories.

WAF has apologised for the inconvenience caused and for further enquiries, customers can call 3346777 or short code 5777 (all mobile networks), the WAF Mobile App or email contact@waf.com.fj.
