WADIGI and First Landing shared the top prizemoney during the Wadigi Salvos 7s tournament at Lautoka’s Churchill Park on Saturday.

The two sides emerged the best out of the 32 participating after surviving the elimination rounds to reach the final.

Wadigi defeated Namuaniwaqa 17-7 while First Landing defeated Coastal Brothers to win their respective semi-finals.

Unfortunately the final was called off because of shortage of time with the semi-final finishing at 7.30pm.

Both teams have agreed to share the first and runner-up prizemoney.

Tournament director Apimeleki Nasalo said they had run out of time resulting in the two teams sharing the prizemoney.

He said despite the setback, the tournament showcased some hidden talents in the country which was a huge exposure for players in Lautoka and surrounding areas.

“All the 32 participating teams gave their best with Wadigi and First Landing emerging as the best in the competition,” said Nasalo.

Meanwhile, in the under-16 competition, Wadigi and KBL Lions also shared the prizemoney after securing their spots in the final.

The bowl, plate finals were also called off with the finalists sharing the prizemoney.
